How to Ease the Fears of Your Kids

I was reading a newspaper today when I stumbled into an article on how to comfort your child if and when they are scared of the dark. This just reminds me of our son when at some point when he turns two years old and until almost three that he is also afraid of the dark. Yet I cannot remember what we have done to pacify him of his fear of the dark but it looks like that he had overgrown that fear somehow.

Anyway, if your child has this kind of fears then the Cleveland Clinic suggests a few steps to ease the fears and help comfort your kids. Here’s what they have suggested when your child is scared of the dark:

  • Talk to the child about these fears, and ask what he or she is afraid of. Reassure the child that he or she is perfectly safe.
  • Explain to your child that mythical creatures are not real.
  • Comfort your child in his or her own bed, rather than bringing a child into your bed.
  • Make sure the pre-bedtime routine is light and happy without any frightening books or movies.
  • Let your child have security items and a nightlight for comfort, and reward your child with small treats and plenty of praise.

I just want to reiterate that the above mentioned five possible solutions is not mine and was only reposted to disseminate and for information purposes in order to help parents find solutions and alternative ways to help their kids feel comfortable and live without fear of the dark anymore.

Dress Your Style with Leticias

I have mentioned in my previous post that there are two things that kept me busy nowadays and that the home improvement projects have been in limbo (for now). And since my stock market experience has been noted and I already have the know-how or the way around it, so I can spare some more time now with the new prospect that I want to concentrate. It is another business venture that I engaged with and it has something to do with women’s clothes in fashion style though we have plans of adding more items for the kids in our line.

So right now, what occupies my time aside from household works and our super active toddler is the setting up of our online shop and preparing the photos to display. Although with the former, I asked hubby to make our own website or an e-store so we can diversify and reach out to customers far from our area. At the moment, we still only cater to the customers in the Philippines but we will see what will happen next because we monitor the progress in a daily basis. So for now, you can check our Facebook Fanpage at “Dress your style with Leticias”. You can leave any comment there or contact us directly for whatever inquiry you have.

So I would say that you don’t have to spend so much if you want to look and feel fashionista and I guarantee you that you can see them at Dress your style with Leticias. We also accept bulk orders and send it at your doorstep with no extra cost from you at a minimum order. So visit our FB Fanpage now and see it yourself the long line of choices that we offer.

An Update from the Interview

As early as eleven in the morning, I am already preparing for lunch so we will be ready for my interview. We left the house about five minutes past 12 noon with the scorching heat of the summer still reaches more than 40 degrees. We arrived at the interview site ten minutes before one o’clock because of the slight traffic delay that we encounter. But we could have been early if hubby took the other route at the expressway and has a direct route to the company’s location. Anyway, it wasn’t a big deal at all since I was there on time.

The interview went well and I even had a good time during the interview but was told to wait for a call for another interview appointment and this time with the big boss already. I am excited with the first outcome and I can’t wait to start working again but as we went home hubby told me some bad news if I will commit and accept the job offer. The dilemma came when they want to transfer my visa to their sponsorship and not with my husband. If that happens then I’m going to lose a lot of benefits that was provided to us from hubby’s company and the list is long if I’m going to mention it one by one.

So the following day, I made up my mind and call them to inform about my situation and if we can make some sort of compromise to keep my visa status with my husband.  But since it is their policy to transfer my visa and they cannot provide me with the benefits that I will lose so I decided to decline the job offer. Although the pay rate is quite good already but it won’t be enough to replace what we are going to lose especially the education assistant given to us. So I am now going back to square one again yet on the other hand, I might be busy too in the coming days and keep you posted with it.

Creating His Own Band

It has been more than two months now since we arrived from our vacation and I miss already the time we spent when we don’t have to keep an eye on our son around the clock. What I also miss is the time we spent with one of the closest friend of hubby because we always have a great time even for just a few hours. This also reminds me of hubby’s friend who is saving to buy the guitar that he has wanted to have. And if he knows about the bass guitars for sale at a very reasonable price then I’m pretty sure he’s going to check it out.

He won’t be able to sleep well just merely by thinking about it and I think he already has enough money from his online writing earnings that was introduced to him by hubby. Although I am not quite sure, yet it should have been substantial already since it’s been awhile now since he started writing. If not then it won’t be that long before he gets his dream guitar paid only by his online gig. He is just so addicted with guitars and I wonder if he’s going to create his own band over time.

The Virus Has Run Its Course

I mentioned in my previous post regarding our son who is sick again with flu like symptoms and so I just want to update everyone that he is fine right now. Probably it was just caused by the constant change in the temperature of his environment. If I remember it right, that week we experienced a very hot temperature that reached up to 45 degrees then that was also the time when we have to go out for our household errands and my job interview. So it must be caused by the sudden and constant change of temperature from cold to hot environment.

And if you don’t know, our son is always confined inside the house because his eczema will flare up if he will be exposed for a long time in either hot or cold environment. He can only play outside the house when the sun is not that hot anymore. Anyway, I am just happy that he is no longer sick and that he can sleep well at night without a clogged nose already. Perhaps, the virus had just run through its course although we tried to let him drink some lemon juice from time to time. And I am also glad that it was gone without even seeing a doctor but we keep an eye on him and hydrate him more than the usual. That also helps in keeping his nose from clogging and liquefies the excess mucus in his nose so he can at least breathe normally.
